the Night before surgery

So tomorrow is the big day.  PJ will undergo surgery to reverse his colostomy and repair his hernia.  The surgeon told me that roughly one third of patients will get a serious infection after this surgery because they are taking something with fecal bacteria on it and placing it back into the body.  He was confident that Patrick would be part of this one third.  They are taking precautions and putting him on IV antibiotics right away.  But I am still scared.  When he had his first surgery back in April to get his colostomy he developed this terrible infection and the wound between his two stomas opened up.  My mother and I went in and the neonatalogist talked to us about him possibly having a septsis infection or getting an embolism.  That was the most terrifying day.  I know my baby has many angels watching over him,but I am still scared.  When I brought my baby home from the hospital it was with an open wound in his abdomen and I did wound care for a few weeks. I can handle wound care.  I can handle Down Syndrome.  I just need him to get through this operation and come home safely.  I’m asking everyone out there for your prayers.  PJ will be in surgery at 9:45 Central time.  I’ll keep everyone updated on his progress.
