update

I wanted to give everyone an update today on what was going on with PJ.  We had a follow up appointment with our pediatrician after spending almost six hours at Children’s Hospital on Saturday.  I explained to our doctor what PJ’s symptoms were like and he seems to feel that PJ has Infantile Spasms.  Please note that he did not observe the behavior.  This was one of the possibilities that the doctors in the ER at Children’s discussed as well.  They ruled it out though because they felt he was a bit too old for that diagnosis.  They did observe the behavior.  I have an MRI scheduled for my sweet baby tomorrow morning.  They will sedate him for it.  I also received a call from the Neurology department at Children’s to bring him in there tomorrow for an EEG.  These two tests will give a definitive diagnosis of Infantile Spasms.

Right now David and I are hopeful but very scared.  We have spent hours on the computer researching.  I know some of you are probably saying to yourself, “Don’t look on the internet!!!”  I know that is what I would tell a friend.  But the doctor gave me a very bleak outlook today and David and I both felt we needed to look for an alternative diagnosis or prognosis.  Time will tell.  Right now Patrick needs your prayers.  I believe in the power of prayer.  I know it helped to save him back when he was in the hospital after birth.  I believe it will help him now.  Hopefully we will have some answers in the next few days.
